dailyloe.com – Sheetz has installed a preserved historic bank facade at its new Fraser, Michigan location this week. The Altoona, Pennsylvania-based company is building an $8 million fuel center and convenience store. The project is nearing completion at the southwest corner of Utica and 14 Mile roads.
The facade belonged to the former State Bank of Fraser building. That long-vacant structure was demolished in 2025 to make way for the new Sheetz. Company officials agreed to preserve the facade to honor the site’s history.
“The State Bank of Fraser building holds a special place in this community’s history,” said Sheetz public affairs manager Nick Ruffner. He communicated this via email to the Macomb Daily. The company made a deliberate decision to incorporate the original bank facade.
Sheetz has added other enhancements through close work with Fraser city officials. These include additional landscaping and a traffic-calming median at the site entrance. The company also agreed to build a 3,000-square-foot public park.
The new park will overlook a detention pond on the property. It will include a historical pedestrian plaza with a commemorative bank monument. Amenities will feature picnic tables, trash receptacles, shade trees, and ornamental plants.
Ruffner stated these touches make the Fraser location something truly unique. The preserved facade is paired with a sizable amount of green space. This approach aims to serve both the community’s history and its future needs.[]
