dailyloe.com – Investigators concluded their search for Kristin Smart’s body at the home of her convicted killer’s mother, Susan Flores, on Saturday.

The San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s office stated they did not recover any remains during the search, which began on Wednesday.

Authorities aimed to determine whether Paul Flores concealed Smart’s body at his mother’s Arroyo Grande residence nearly 30 years after her disappearance.

Soil testing indicated the presence of human remains, prompting the search warrant execution at the residence located on East Branch Street.

Despite the positive soil tests, Sheriff Ian Parkinson confirmed, “We did not recover Kristin Smart,” emphasizing the ongoing commitment to find her.

Parkinson added, “The Sheriff’s Office remains fully committed to finding Kristin and bringing her home to her family.”

The investigation revealed that investigators believe Smart’s body may have been moved multiple times.

Following Paul Flores’ life sentence three years ago, the search for Smart’s remains continues, with no new information available.

Paul Flores was last seen with Smart as they walked toward her dormitory at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo after a party in 1996.

The case gained renewed attention in 2019 through Chris Lambert’s podcast, “Your Own Backyard,” which helped keep public interest alive.

Paul Flores was arrested in 2021 amid the resurgence of the investigation into Smart’s disappearance.
