dailyloe.com – Sarah Pidgeon showcased her unique style at the 2026 Met Gala, embracing ’90s minimalism. The actor collaborated with Loewe’s designers, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, for her look. The dress featured a twisted bandeau top and column skirt made of chartreuse matte satin.
Pidgeon attended Loewe’s fall 2026 show in Paris in March and was captivated by look 43, a plaid, sculptural bandeau scarf top. She texted her stylist about her interest in the design, describing it as whimsical yet powerful and architectural. During a meeting with McCollough and Hernandez, they used this design as inspiration for her Met Gala outfit.
While Pidgeon gained fame this year from her role in Love Story, this was not her first Met Gala. She attended the 2024 Met Gala in a Christopher John Rogers dress while starring in Stereophonic on Broadway. Pidgeon recalled rushing from a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to the Met Gala, with only about 45 minutes to prepare.
Despite having more experience, Pidgeon faced logistical challenges for the 2026 event. Shooting in Australia complicated fittings, but she described the process as magical. To facilitate fittings, the Loewe team sent a tailor from Paris to her location in Queensland for a toile fitting with a muslin prototype of her dress.
The design of Pidgeon’s outfit pays homage to sculptures in the “Costume Art” exhibition. She noted, “Every outfit I’ve seen from Loewe is this sculptural work of art.” Loewe is also connected to the fine arts community through initiatives like the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize and the artists showcased in their runway shows.
