Vonn previously competed with a torn ACL, which she suffered a week before her leg injury. Despite her struggles, she attended the pre-Met Gala celebration, wearing a long brown dress and appearing cheerful. Bezos and Sanchez reportedly paid at least $10 million to sponsor the event.
In a recent CNN interview, Vonn shared that she is still in “survival mode” during her recovery. She expressed hope for her future, stating, “Maybe this is going to be the best thing that’s ever happened to me in my life.” Vonn is optimistic about potential opportunities arising from her current challenges.
She mentioned her plans for Monday’s Met Gala, where she aims to walk without crutches for the first time since her injury. Vonn acknowledged the difficulty of the task, stating, “There are a few stairs. Yes, it’s going to be intense.” She noted a previous commitment to designer Thom Browne, who had asked her to participate in the event.
