These defects include damage to both A covers and variant covers, affecting retailers significantly.
In light of these issues, DC Comics will provide complimentary second printings of the A covers for the affected titles. Retailers will receive these second printings at no cost, matching their original orders of the first printings.
Additionally, DC will issue a 15% credit on variant cover orders for Absolute Batman #20, along with the affected Martian Manhunter and Breakout titles. Retailers can continue to sell the defective first prints, while grading companies will adjust grades to account for these defects.
Last week, Bleeding Cool reported extensively on the damage issues, which also included Supergirl #13 and The Fury of Firestorm #2. The defects were not limited to the primary A covers but also impacted cardstock and retailer exclusive cover variants.
In their announcement, DC stated, “Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback regarding the manufacturing defects on Absolute Batman #20, Absolute Martian Manhunter #11, Barbara Gordon: Breakout #1, and for your patience as we worked toward a resolution.” They further detailed the steps being taken to address the situation.
The second printings will feature a new title logo coloring to help distinguish them from the first printings. Retailers can expect these second printings to arrive in stores on June 3. DC will also issue a freight credit for these copies.
