dailyloe.com – Ty Pennington, the host of HGTV’s ‘Rock the Block,’ frequently offers his design opinions to the competing teams. He shared his thoughts in an interview with PauseRewind reporter Sabra Satz-Kojis. Pennington described how he sometimes questions the contestants’ design choices. He often suggests they consider other options based on his own experience.

He explained that the show’s strict time limits often prevent teams from changing their plans. Competitors sometimes do not have enough time to devise a new concept. Pennington has tried to lend his design expertise to cast members. They do not always listen to his suggestions.

Pennington recalled a specific instance from the current season. He told a design team their space looked a little empty. He believed something needed to be placed there. That particular team had left the space empty on purpose. Pennington initially thought it was a mistake.

He later realized it was a bold, intentional design move. That experience taught the former ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ host an important lesson. ‘That made me realize, maybe I should shut up and let them do their thing,’ Pennington said. He acknowledged everyone has their own artistic statements.

Pennington believes it is sometimes great to let someone find their path. He likes to see what they think is truly unique. Given his strong opinions, a logical question arises. Why does he not simply compete on a season himself?

Pennington admitted that at some point he might have to compete. He really hopes it does not come to that. The reason is that he considers himself way too competitive. Pennington also confessed, ‘And I cheat.’

He suggested that is probably why the producers have never asked him to compete. The new season of the show features several competitors. The cast includes Brooke Hogan, Scott McGillivray, and Drew Lachey. It also features Taniya Nayak, Chelsea Meissner, and Kim Wolfe.

Mina Starsiak and Vernon Davis are also competitors this season. ‘Rock the Block’ season seven is set to premiere soon. It will air on HGTV on April 13. The premiere time is 8 p.m. Eastern Time.[]
