Stocks experienced a notable rise on Friday as Treasury yields softened, leading Wall Street to a successful week despite ongoing volatility. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 294.04 points, or 0.58%, closing at 50,579.70. This 30-stock index achieved an intraday all-time high and secured another record close.

The S&P 500 increased by 0.37%, finishing at 7,473.47, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.19% to wrap up the day at 26,343.97. Although all three major indexes concluded the day positively, they were off their earlier session highs.

Steve Sosnick, chief strategist at Interactive Brokers, commented, “It’s the everything market.” He added that the market seems to prioritize concerns about missing potential peace developments in the Middle East over risks associated with holding positions over the weekend.

As reported by CNBC, a Qatari delegation arrived in Tehran on Friday, coordinating with the U.S. to facilitate an agreement to resolve the ongoing conflict. This development has fueled hopes among traders for a timely resolution, which has implications for oil prices.

Oil prices settled slightly higher on Friday, although they were below earlier weekly peaks. International Brent crude futures increased by 0.9%, closing at $103.54 per barrel. West Texas Intermediate crude also rose by approximately 0.3%, settling at $96.60.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note decreased by nearly 3 basis points, reaching around 4.56% by Friday afternoon. The 30-year bond yield also experienced a decline, dropping more than 4 basis points to trade around 5.06%. Earlier in the week, bond market volatility had impacted stocks significantly.

The yield on the 30-year bond hit its highest level since 2007 before easing, while the 10-year yield reached its highest level in over a year. Traders expressed concerns that a prolonged U.S.-Iran conflict could sustain elevated oil prices and exert upward pressure on inflation.

On a separate note, Qualcomm shares surged almost 12% on Friday, marking a third consecutive winning session. Over the week, Qualcomm’s stock gained 18.2%, reflecting strong performance in the tech sector.

The S&P 500 posted a 0.9% increase for the week, celebrating its eighth consecutive winning week—the longest win streak since late 2023. The Dow rose 2.1% and registered its third positive week in four, while the Nasdaq added 0.5%, achieving its seventh weekly advance in the past eight weeks.
