dailyloe.com – The Los Angeles Sparks opened their season with a significant loss, falling 105-78 to the Las Vegas Aces. Sparks guard Kelsey Plum had a standout game, scoring 27 points on 10-for-18 shooting, including 4-for-8 from beyond the arc. Despite Plum’s efforts, the Sparks struggled, particularly in the front court where they needed additional support.

Cam Brink, a forward/center, was expected to complement Plum but faced difficulties during the game. In just 12 minutes of play, Brink did not score, recorded three turnovers, and accumulated three fouls. This performance raised concerns about her contributions to the team’s dynamics.

After the game, Sparks head coach Lynee Roberts was candid regarding Brink’s lack of playing time. “I mean, we need Cam to produce. We need Cam to bring that defensive energy,” Roberts stated. She expressed confidence in Brink’s abilities, emphasizing the need for her to play with confidence.

Roberts acknowledged that the beginning of the season involves figuring out player rotations and chemistry. “We looked like we just didn’t have a lot of floor chemistry out there,” she noted. She contrasted this with the Aces, who have built chemistry over years of playing together.

Despite the challenges, Roberts reiterated the importance of Brink to the team’s success. “So we’re going to need Cam. She’s going to be a big part of our success, have every bit of belief in her,” Roberts affirmed. The Sparks will need to integrate Brink effectively as the season progresses to improve their performance.
