dailyloe.com – General Randy George was ousted as Army Chief of Staff by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. He sent an outgoing email to senior Pentagon officials following his removal. The email emphasized the need for courageous leadership for U.S. soldiers.

CBS News first reported on the general’s removal earlier this week. A source stated Hegseth wants someone to implement his and President Trump’s vision. The email was confirmed as authentic by CBS News on Saturday.

George addressed the email to Undersecretary and Assistant Secretary of the Army Driscoll. It was also sent to three- and four-star generals on his staff. He called serving alongside them the greatest privilege.

‘I know you’ll all continue to stay laser-focused on the mission,’ George wrote. He urged continued innovation and cutting through bureaucracy. The goal is to equip warfighters for the modern battlefield.

‘Our soldiers are truly the best in the world,’ he added. He stated they deserve tough training and leaders of character. George expressed confidence they would lead with courage and grit.

He previously served as senior military assistant to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. That role lasted from 2021 to 2022 during the Biden administration. George became Army chief of staff, typically a four-year post, in 2023.

Chief Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell issued a formal statement. He confirmed George’s immediate retirement as the 41st Chief of Staff. The Department of War thanked him for decades of service.[]
