dailyloe.com – The White House hosted its 148th annual Easter Egg Roll on Monday, welcoming thousands of families to the South Lawn for a celebration themed around America’s upcoming 250th birthday. The event was open to families with children aged 13 and younger who secured tickets through a free online lottery system. This longstanding tradition dates back to 1878 during President Rutherford B. Hayes’s administration.

This year’s festivities emphasized history, service, and innovation in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary. Children participated in the traditional egg roll while exploring dozens of interactive activity stations across the lawn. New additions included a NASA-led lunar exploration experience and an artificial intelligence creation station.

Other activities allowed children to write messages to U.S. troops stationed overseas. Organizers introduced a sensory-friendly egg hunt to accommodate families with diverse needs. A new ‘Hen to Home’ exhibit featured live chicks for children to observe up close.

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were scheduled to address attendees from the White House balcony. They planned to join families on the South Lawn for the day’s festivities. The event concluded with families receiving commemorative eggs as keepsakes.[]
