dailyloe.com – Derby-based mortgage broker Mortgage Advice Bureau has agreed to acquire the HomeOwners Alliance property advice platform. The deal is valued at a total consideration of £1.4 million plus distributable reserves. MAB will take a 100% stake in the London-based consumer platform. This acquisition aims to engage customers earlier in the homebuying journey.
The purchase supports MAB’s plans to extend its role beyond mortgage advice. It seeks to deepen links with related parts of the home-moving process. This includes connections with its network of preferred suppliers. The group also cited the government’s ongoing home-selling consultation.
MAB expects the integration to increase lead volumes significantly. It will broaden the range of available services, including protection products. The move reinforces connections between mortgage advice and complementary services. HOA’s platform draws millions of website visits annually.
Ben Thompson is the director of home moving strategy at Mortgage Advice Bureau. He said HomeOwners Alliance is a trusted source of information for homeowners. Thompson stated the acquisition strengthens their ability to engage customers earlier. It supports the strategy to broaden MAB’s role across the home-moving process.
Paula Higgins is the founder and chief executive of HomeOwners Alliance. She said joining MAB will enable the company to benefit from additional resources. This will allow it to expand the guidance, tools, and research it provides. Higgins confirmed the platform will continue to operate independently.
She stated they will retain a strong voice for consumers under the new ownership. Higgins expressed excitement about their growth plans with MAB. The total deal consideration is £1.4 million plus distributable reserves. Half is payable on completion with the remainder due over two years.
MAB is acquiring the full share capital from HOA’s founders and Smoove. The acquisition adds a high-traffic homeowner guidance platform. It is part of the broker’s wider home-moving strategy. The deal was announced on April 14, 2026.[]
