dailyloe.com – Country music star Lainey Wilson has opened up about her mental health journey in an exclusive cover story for PEOPLE magazine. The 33-year-old singer revealed she once worked with three different therapists to manage anxiety and burnout. She discusses these struggles in her forthcoming Netflix documentary, ‘Lainey Wilson: Keepin’ Country Cool,’ which streams on April 22.

Wilson explained the roles of her therapists in the interview published on April 16, 2026. One therapist specifically helps her with business communication. ‘She helps me get a point across with a little bow wrapped on top,’ Wilson said. The singer noted this is important because otherwise her ‘Louisiana crazy side’ might make her say things ‘a little sideways.’

Another aspect involves managing life on tour with over one hundred people. Wilson wants to create a positive work environment for her team. ‘I want it to be an environment that people want to come and work,’ she stated. Her goal is for people to want to stick around for decades as they continue working together.

This therapist also teaches her how to set proper boundaries. Wilson moved to Nashville in a camper trailer at age 19 to pursue music. She spent nearly a decade grinding in the business before landing a major-label deal in 2018.

As her career rapidly took off, Wilson began struggling with anxiety and depression. A grueling radio tour schedule in 2019 became a major breaking point. The relentless pace led to a severe, days-long panic attack for the artist.

Wilson described the exhausting nature of that promotional tour. ‘I was going around meeting every radio station in America,’ she recalled. She would play her song in conference rooms with varied reactions from station staff.

‘Sometimes they’re into it, sometimes they’re on their phone, sometimes you’re singing to the carpet,’ Wilson said of the experience. The constant travel and performance demands took a heavy toll on her mental state.

‘After four months solid visiting all these different radio stations, I was just exhausted,’ Wilson continued. She felt completely burned-out from having to be constantly ‘on’ for her career. The singer said she wanted to ‘curl up in a little ball and shut the world out completely.’

Wilson hopes that by sharing her story, she can inspire others to speak up about their own mental health. Her new documentary on Netflix will provide a deeper look into her personal and professional journey.
