dailyloe.com – On April 24, 2026, a Los Angeles County judge denied Cher’s emergency request for a conservator to manage her son Elijah Blue Allman’s finances. This decision comes while Allman remains in a New Hampshire psychiatric facility and faces criminal charges.
Cher sought immediate conservatorship ahead of Allman’s upcoming quarterly payout from his late father’s trust in May. The judge stated that she did not see the urgency but would revisit the matter at a follow-up hearing in June.
Elijah Blue Allman, 49, participated in the hearing remotely from his hospital, speaking briefly to request his former attorney, Steven K. Brumer, represent him. He thanked the judge for her ruling.
Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui expressed understanding of concerns from Allman’s family and friends but noted that these concerns did not establish that he lacked capacity. She stated, “I am going to deny the temporary conservatorship without prejudice.”
This hearing followed a private settlement in 2024 that concluded Cher’s previous attempt to control Allman’s trust payments. Cher initially filed for conservatorship in 2023, citing urgent needs for protection due to Allman’s mental health and substance abuse issues.
In her renewed petition filed on April 15, Cher alleged that Allman had not fulfilled his promise to hire a business manager. She described his situation as dire, citing severe mental health deterioration and worsening financial and drug dependency issues.
Cher’s petition claimed that Allman was “gravely disabled” and referenced his recent arrests in New Hampshire for making criminal threats and breaking into a woman’s house. The court’s decision leaves open the possibility for Cher to return if another court finds Allman lacks capacity.
