In an interview with Us Weekly, she stated, “Now … that I’ve chosen to share it with the world, I’m comfortable to confidently say that yes, I am bisexual.”
Panettiere noted that she never felt it was the right time to share her sexuality. She remarked, it’s “better late than never.” The actress reflected on her youth, saying she felt pressured to be perfect and was not encouraged to be herself.
She expressed concerns about coming out, stating that it felt like a fad for women to identify as bisexual. She feared being perceived as jumping on a bandwagon, making it challenging to articulate her feelings. Recalling her childhood, she mentioned being “much more into women” than men. She referred to this experience as “traumatic” and “brutal,” stating, “Getting an abusive person out of your life is like trying to rip a weed out that is so entangled into your life.”
