dailyloe.com – CBS has canceled three shows and ended one in 2026. The network’s lineup will look different this year. The cancellations include beloved newer series like Watson and the long-running talk show The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Amy Reisenbach, CBS Entertainment president, said canceling shows involves tough decisions based on data and future projections. “They’re extremely tough calls to make,” Reisenbach said at the Banff World Media Festival in June 2024 after NCIS: Hawai’i and So Help Me Todd were canceled, per Variety. “I’m a big fan of TV first and I sympathize and relate to all of the fans out there who are disappointed in the fact that these shows are ending.”
She continued, “We toss and turn and have sleepless nights and have endless discussions but we look at all of the numbers. We look at what our projections are for the future, we look at where we see opportunities to potentially have even bigger success on the schedule.”
However, those tough calls made room for four new shows in the upcoming 2026-2027 season. The new series are Cupertino, NCIS: New York, Einstein and Eternally Yours.
Stephen Colbert announced in July 2025 that his late-night talk show was canceled after 10 seasons. He said that, unlike when he took over for David Letterman in 2015, he was not going to be replaced. “It’s not just the end of our show, but it’s the end of The Late Show on CBS,” he told his audience. “This is all just going away. And I do want to say that the folks at CBS have been great partners.”
CBS shared in a statement that the decision was financial and “not related in any way to the show’s performance.” The final episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will air on May 21.
