dailyloe.com – British actor John Nolan has died at the age of 87. He was known for roles in Batman films and the TV series Person of Interest. The Stratford-Upon-Avon Herald reported his death on Saturday.

Early Career and Stage Work

John Nolan was born in London on May 22, 1938. He studied acting at the Drama Centre in London. He performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company for two years.

His stage roles included Clitus in Julius Caesar. He also performed in The Merry Wives of Windsor and The Relapse. He later joined Trevor Nunn’s National Theatre ensemble.

Television and Film Roles

Nolan starred in the 1970 BBC miniseries Daniel Deronda. He played the scientist Geoff Hardcastle on BBC’s Doomwatch. He also starred in the 1973 ITV miniseries Shabby Tiger.

He appeared in films directed by his nephew Christopher Nolan. These included Following, Batman Begins, and Dunkirk. In Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises he played Douglas Fredericks.

Role on ‘Person of Interest’

John Nolan joined Person of Interest in its second season. He played the character John Greer in 28 episodes. Greer was a former MI6 agent running Decima Technologies.

The series was created by his nephew Jonathan Nolan. His role continued through the show’s fifth and final season. Jonathan Nolan also co-wrote The Dark Knight Rises.

John Nolan’s career spanned theater, television, and film. He was the younger brother of Brendan Nolan. His work included roles in major productions for over five decades.[]
