dailyloe.com – A’ja Wilson, Sabrina Ionescu, and Paige Bueckers star in a new marketing campaign for NBC Sports, celebrating the WNBA’s return to the network.
This return marks the league’s first broadcast on NBC since 2002. The campaign was launched during the 152nd Kentucky Derby coverage on NBC and Peacock.
The WNBA season kicks off on Sunday, May 17, starting with the Las Vegas Aces playing against the Atlanta Dream at 1:30 p.m. ET.
The feature includes a special appearance by Saturday Night Live’s Chloe Fineman. Fineman provides a light-hearted “first day of work” tour for Wilson, Ionescu, and Bueckers within faux NBCUniversal offices.
This creative device blends humor with the legacy of women at NBCUniversal. The segment showcases images celebrating influential women throughout NBC’s history.

Ionescu is framed beneath an image of the late Betty White. The outro song is “Thank You for Being a Friend,” from NBC’s The Golden Girls.

Signor added that Wilson, Ionescu, and Bueckers embody the league’s current excellence, personality, and momentum. NBC aims to present the game at its highest level as the WNBA returns.
The doubleheader on May 17 will also feature the Seattle Storm against the Indiana Fever at 6 p.m. ET on Peacock and NBCSN.
