dailyloe.com – Gap will unveil a new collection with luxury fashion designer Victoria Beckham on Friday. This collaboration is a key step in the retailer’s strategy to pivot towards more premium fashion. The move is being led by Gap Inc’s president and chief executive, Richard Dickson. Dickson joined the company from toymaker Mattel in 2023.

The collection consists of 38 pieces reimagining Gap classics. It includes denim, shirting, and outerwear seen through Beckham’s design-led perspective. Items are priced from £25 to £250. High demand is expected for pieces rooted in Beckham’s own wardrobe.

These pieces are regularly seen on her Paris fashion week catwalk. They include a tailored denim jacket and a white T-shirt. In Beckham’s mainline collection, a similar jean jacket costs £590. Her T-shirts there start from £95.

The new Gap collection also features capri pants. This is a nod to the style popularised by Sarah Jessica Parker. Parker wore them in a 2004 Gap advert. A navy hoodie in the collection features 90s staples like a kangaroo pocket.

This hoodie also has drawstrings and Gap’s signature arch logo. The logo sits above Beckham’s own branding on the garment. Victoria Beckham commented on the collaboration in a statement. She called Gap an all-American icon creating timeless pieces.

“Bringing my design perspective to those everyday essentials is special,” Beckham said. She praised the team’s commitment to craftsmanship and execution. This collection follows Gap’s previous collaborations with smaller brands. These included the LA label Cult Gaia.

Last year, Gap also introduced a new premier line called GapStudio. This collection is overseen by US designer Zac Posen. Posen has previously dressed Rihanna and Michelle Obama. The GapStudio collection showed during New York fashion week.

The partnership with Beckham cements Gap’s strategic shift. The retailer is moving from mass fashion towards a more selective shopper. This comes as the luxury fashion market faces a global slowdown. The high street retail sector is also confronting its own pressures.
