Shakur claims grand jury transcripts and a Netflix documentary have revealed new information. He states the evidence suggests a broader conspiracy behind the rapper’s death.
Davis is the only suspect charged in the 1996 murder and is expected to stand trial this summer. Shakur’s complaint was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, seeking damages from Davis and others.
Tupac Shakur was shot in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996. He was attacked while driving a BMW near the MGM Grand Hotel and Caesars Palace.
The shooting involved a gunman in a white Cadillac who struck the rapper four times. Over the years, various law enforcement agencies have attempted to solve the case amid swirling conspiracy theories.
Shakur noted in his complaint that many individuals involved have died, while others remain unidentified. He criticized that some individuals have not been held accountable for Tupac’s death.
“This action seeks to change that,” Shakur stated in the legal filing. Significant progress occurred in 2023 when Las Vegas authorities charged Davis with first-degree murder.
Authorities used admissions from Davis’s 2019 book, “Compton Street Legend,” to build their case. Prosecutors allege that Davis planned to take revenge on Tupac for a previous gang-related incident.
