Rylee’s mother, Alexa Miller of Petersburg, Indiana, told TODAY.com the story. Miller shared the tale in a TikTok video with before and after photos.
Rylee watches the TODAY show every morning with her grandfather, whom she calls PawPaw. Miller said her parents have babysat Rylee since she was 2 months old. The request started months ago when Rylee’s grandmother asked about a haircut. Rylee replied, ‘I want my hair cut like Jenna Bush’s,’ Miller recalled with a laugh.
Miller said Rylee knew Jenna’s name and really loves her. Jenna Bush Hager got her signature bob live on TODAY in June 2025. In March 2025, Jenna praised ‘White Lotus’ star Leslie Bibb’s short hair as a ‘cultural moment.’ Bibb later brought her stylist, Chris McMillan, to guest co-host TODAY with Jenna & Friends.
On June 16, McMillan started the haircut on the show. Jenna debuted the sleek, A-line cut the next morning. Rylee’s bob emulates Jenna’s style with one difference: Rylee has bangs. The bangs were needed because Rylee tried to cut her own hair first.
Miller said Rylee got impatient waiting for a salon visit. In the TikTok video, Miller wrote that Rylee whacked a ‘chunk’ of hair off. Bangs were required to ‘correct the problem,’ Miller said. The whole family loves Rylee’s new look.
‘I love it. I think it looks so good,’ Miller said. Rylee also loves the haircut. Miller recalled Rylee saying, ‘I look just like Jenna!’ when she first saw herself in the mirror. Rylee starts pre-school in August.
Aside from watching TODAY, Rylee plays with her dog, Oreo. She also enjoys tractor rides with her PawPaw. Miller added that Rylee loves to read, just like Jenna. Miller said Rylee’s bubbly personality could suit a morning show broadcast.
‘She’s very people-y and friendly,’ Miller said. ‘And she doesn’t know a stranger.’
