dailyloe.com – The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square will present a special Palm Sunday broadcast on March 29, 2026. This weekly program, titled ‘Music & the Spoken Word,’ will feature a message from Derrick Porter. The broadcast will be the 5,037th episode in the choir’s long-running history.
The spoken word segment will reflect on the biblical events of the first Palm Sunday. It describes a crowd laying cloaks and palm branches before Jesus. They shouted ‘Hosanna’ as he entered Jerusalem over two millennia ago.
The ancient word ‘Hosanna’ originally meant a plea for salvation. The multitude hoped for deliverance from Roman occupation. They believed Jesus was the prophesied Messiah who had arrived.
Modern observance has transformed ‘Hosanna’ into an expression of joyful praise. The broadcast connects this historical context to contemporary faith. It highlights the enduring significance of the Palm Sunday narrative.
The script references the biblical account from the Gospel of Matthew. It notes the city’s reaction to Jesus’s entry. The people identified him as ‘Jesus the prophet of Nazareth.’
The message also recalls Jesus weeping over Jerusalem’s future. This adds a solemn layer to the triumphant entry story. It acknowledges the complex emotions of the original event.
The broadcast is produced by The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. It is made available in multiple languages, including Portuguese. This extends its reach to an international audience of listeners.[]
