dailyloe.com – SpaceX has postponed its NASA resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS) due to adverse weather conditions. The launch, originally scheduled for Tuesday night, is now set for Wednesday at 6:50 p.m. ET.

The CRS-34 mission aims to deliver approximately 6,500 pounds of cargo and experiments to the ISS. NASA public affairs officer Jimi Russell noted that the decision to scrub Tuesday’s launch was made due to forecasted inclement weather.

The 45th Weather Squadron had provided a 35% chance of favorable conditions for Tuesday’s launch. Key weather concerns included the presence of cumulus clouds, anvil clouds, and surface electric fields.

SpaceX remains optimistic about the rescheduled launch, as Wednesday’s forecast offers a 60% chance of good conditions. However, similar weather issues, including cumulus clouds, anvil clouds, and flight-through-precipitation rules, are still potential obstacles.

This mission marks the sixth flight for the Falcon 9 first-stage booster designated B1096. Following stage separation, the booster will land on Landing Zone 40 near the launch pad, potentially resulting in a sonic boom.

The Dragon spacecraft is expected to autonomously dock with the ISS’s Harmony module around 7:35 a.m. ET on Thursday. NASA has confirmed that the Dragon will carry various experiments and technology in addition to cargo for the ISS crew.

The cargo includes research related to medical studies and planetary formation, highlighting the mission’s scientific significance. SpaceX continues to plan for the launch amid the challenging weather conditions.
