Cîrstea began her Madrid campaign with a victory over Tyra Caterina Grant, winning 6-2, 7-6 (5). She faces Gauff, the world number 3, who has previously defeated her in two encounters.
During her training session, Cîrstea took photos and shared a clip of her practicing shots. Afterward, she received a compliment from fellow player Belinda Bencic, who remarked on her physique, calling it “body goals.”
