dailyloe.com – Sami Zayn recently shared his thoughts on WrestleMania 42, where he faced Trick Williams. After missing WrestleMania 41 in 2025, Zayn returned to the event this year.
In an interview with Witty Whittier, Zayn described the vibe surrounding the event as different for multiple reasons. He noted that factors like hotel stays and match details can slightly shift one’s mood.
He mentioned, “This year, my character at the time of WrestleMania is a bit more undefined than it’s been in many many years.” Zayn usually enters WrestleMania with a clear understanding of his character and role.
This year, he felt a change, noting, “I would say polarizing reactions but it’s kind of started to swing all the way in the other direction now to where I’m unliked.” He expressed confusion about the audience’s response, saying, “What did I even do here?”
Zayn found the atmosphere less certain, commenting on how audience reactions varied week to week. He also referred to the unexpected addition of Pat McAfee at WrestleMania as contributing to the strange vibe.
Despite these feelings, Zayn appreciated the experience, stating, “Ultimately, like you said I didn’t get to do Mania last year in Vegas.” He felt grateful for the opportunity, reflecting, “It can be a tad overwhelming sometimes but again, what a privilege to have.”
Zayn looks forward to another clash with Trick Williams at the Backlash premium live event on May 9.
