dailyloe.com – Robert Plant was named the 2026 Record Store Legend on Wednesday, April 8. The announcement came from Record Store Day organizers ahead of the annual event. The 77-year-old rock icon received the award for his lifelong patronage of physical music stores.

Plant has visited record shops across the United States recently. His stops included stores in West Virginia, Missouri, North Carolina, and Texas. The singer’s own albums are staples in sections marked Led Zeppelin and Robert Plant.

He is an eight-time Grammy winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer. Plant also received a Kennedy Center Honor. He has been making records since 1966.

“Record stores have always been a part of my life,” Plant said in a statement. He emphasized the desire for a physical connection to music. People want to take home something special from an artist, he noted.

In advance of Record Store Day on April 18, Plant visited Spillers Records. This shop in Cardiff, Wales is recognized as the world’s oldest record store. Billboard previously profiled the establishment in 2023.

Plant now boasts a permanent Record Store Legend plaque there. The universe already recognizes him as a legend in music. This award solidifies his status in the vinyl community.[]
