dailyloe.com – Robert Kirkman, the creator of ‘Invincible,’ confirmed that future seasons of the series may diverge from the original comic storylines.
During an exclusive interview with The Direct, Kirkman discussed the anticipated changes for the Prime Video series as it progresses.
He revealed that the adaptation will incorporate ‘more side quests’ and original content in upcoming seasons. Kirkman mentioned, ‘there is no dearth of ideas from the writers’ for the show.
Kirkman emphasized that the writers have numerous ideas, stating, ‘you can expect more side quests and things that will be working their way into the overall narrative of the show as we go on.’
He described the process as exciting and stated, ‘it’s a fun thing to do.’ This approach aligns with how many major studios adapt comic book materials.
In discussing the character Damian Darkblood in Season 4, Kirkman noted that his storyline differs from the comic version. He referenced the theme of ‘superheroes [going] to hell’ as inspiration for Mark Grayson’s journey.
Kirkman admitted he had not fully developed the narrative for that concept initially, explaining, ‘I hadn’t worked out what that story was.’
He reflected on the creative process behind the comics, where storylines often evolved closer to release dates. Kirkman explained, ‘we would be soliciting an issue in our distributor catalog, and I would go, ‘I don’t know, they’re going to go to hell this issue.’
This iterative development process has continued into the adaptation of ‘Invincible,’ allowing for new and original ideas to flourish within the series.
