dailyloe.com – Liverpool forward Rio Ngumoha discussed his career in a new Q&A session. The 17-year-old has made 22 appearances for the club this season. He became Liverpool’s youngest-ever goalscorer with a winner at Newcastle United last August. Ngumoha answered fan questions submitted online to Sky Sports.
He was asked about his sleep after the historic Newcastle match. Ngumoha said he did get some sleep despite returning late. The team came back at 2am or 3am because the trip was quite far. He recalled being on FaceTime with friends who were celebrating his achievement.
Ngumoha stated he has watched the goal back a lot. He noted his mum watches it back all the time. On realizing the magnitude of becoming the youngest scorer, he said no. He described it as just pure emotion and passion.
He called it 100 percent his favorite memory so far. Ngumoha said he was excited by the achievement. He watched Liverpool play Nottingham Forest at home last season. He got an opportunity to train with the team a couple of weeks after that.
Speaking about teammate Mohamed Salah, Ngumoha highlighted his achievements. He said Salah has achieved basically everything in football. Ngumoha added that Salah is very friendly as well. He said people sometimes forget that players are just people too.
Ngumoha said players have all the fame but are nice people. He stated you learn a lot from them. He recalled Salah giving him advice after training one time. Salah told him the top players get goals and assists along with ability.
Ngumoha noted Salah has broken many records. Him saying that meant a lot to Ngumoha. Salah said he knows Ngumoha is a good player. To get to the next level, he just needs to add goals and assists.
His football idol growing up was Neymar. Ngumoha watched him as a kid on YouTube. He saw him play for Barcelona and PSG. Ngumoha said Neymar is not just a winger but an attacker.
He said Neymar could play left wing, No.10, or right wing. Ngumoha described him as just sensational. He confirmed he 100 percent looked up to Neymar. Ngumoha stated he is very confident in himself.
His future aspirations include hopefully winning a Ballon d’Or. He would also like many club trophies with Liverpool. This includes many Premier Leagues and Champions Leagues. Obviously everyone wants to win that, he said.
He wants to be regarded as one of the best players ever. That belief comes from himself and also his brother. His brother showed him real belief from a young age. Ngumoha remembered his brother skipping college to train him.
Since then, his brother just really believed in him. He gives Ngumoha a lot of confidence, he would say. His brother teaches him about mentality a lot. The lesson is to be mentally strong, Ngumoha explained.[]
