dailyloe.com – Portland is set for a very warm Tuesday, with temperatures expected to rise 3-5 degrees higher than normal. Highs in western valleys are predicted to reach between 78 and 85 degrees. However, a weather pattern change is anticipated Tuesday evening.

A surge of cool marine air will move inland, leading to a noticeable temperature drop by late afternoon. Gusty winds from the west, southwest, or northwest will develop after 2 PM, marking the end of the warm weather. The cooldown is associated with an approaching Pacific cold front.

Rain showers or even thundershowers may occur late Tuesday evening or overnight, just before the front arrives. Residents are advised to cover any items that cannot get wet by sunset.

Tonight, the weather will be mainly clear and warm, with lows ranging from 50 to 55 degrees. Tuesday’s conditions will be sunny and warm until early afternoon, with highs of 82-85 degrees. A breezy westerly wind is expected later in the afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph.

Wednesday will bring a stark contrast with morning rain followed by scattered showers. Afternoon temperatures are projected to be 20 degrees cooler than Tuesday. A further cool system is expected to move into the area Thursday night, continuing through early Saturday.

This pattern indicates a return to the typical May weather for the region, with occasional showers. The cooler and wetter conditions are likely to persist for 5-7 days, as Portland has seen unusually dry weather since late April.
