dailyloe.com – On Monday, October 11, an explosion occurred in Jaguaré, São Paulo, injuring at least one person and damaging 35 buildings. Airport agent Maurício Gonçalves, 23, described the incident, saying, “The window exploded in my face.” He was home alone on the fourth floor of a condominium when he heard a loud noise.
Gonçalves recounted his panic as he witnessed the explosion. He thought his building was collapsing and ran down the emergency stairs. He said, “I looked at the window, everything was falling, and my first feeling was that the building was collapsing.”
He realized the severity of the situation when he saw blood on his hands and face. Gonçalves lived directly across from the explosion site and saw the community engulfed in flames. He stated, “All the windows of my apartment exploded, the bathroom boxes exploded.”
Gonçalves suffered facial injuries from flying glass and received two stitches. After escaping the building, he was treated by rescue teams. He mentioned, “When I went down, I received assistance from the ambulance and the UBS, which is on the street where it happened. But thank God, I am fine.”
The explosion happened around 4:10 PM on Rua Floresto Bandecchi, near Rua Dr. Benedito de Moraes. The Fire Department reported that a 45-year-old man died in the incident, and three other individuals were rescued.
