dailyloe.com – The PGA Tour will host the Cadillac Championship next week at Trump National Doral. This event is part of the Signature Event series, featuring a limited field and a prize pool of $20 million.

Most players desire to participate in these events, and currently, two sponsor exemptions have yet to be finalized. Typically, by the Saturday before the event, the field is largely set.

The field usually includes the top 50 players from the previous year, several winners from the current season, and others who have performed well recently. However, sponsor exemptions can be decided at the last minute.

There are four sponsor exemptions available, which allows for flexibility in the field selection. If a player qualifies on their own, it enhances their reputation compared to receiving a sponsor exemption.

This scenario benefits sponsors, as their list of potential invitees is often longer than the number of exemptions available. The situation was evident during the RBC Heritage tournament when Max Homa qualified on his own after initially being listed as a sponsor exemption.

For the Cadillac Championship, only Joel Dahmen and Max Greyserman are currently listed as sponsor exemptions. Both are qualified players, but neither will earn a spot like Homa did.

Two additional exemptions will be decided on Sunday evening. The selection remains open due to notable players potentially becoming alternates, while fewer big names are expressing interest in participating.

Players such as Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Bob MacIntyre, Ludvig Aberg, and Matt Fitzpatrick are among those who might impact the final field.
