dailyloe.com – Air Canada has unveiled new cabins for its upcoming Boeing 787-10 and Airbus A321XLR aircraft. The airline introduced a new ‘Glowing Hearted’ design language. Executive Vice President Mark Nasr discussed the products and fleet plans. The refresh comes amid competitive new cabin launches from major US carriers.
Details are central to the new cabin design according to the airline. Air Canada highlights red stitching and bespoke fabrics for a Canadian touch. A palette of greys and stone is paired with these elements. Natural wood grain details are complemented by bronze metal accents.
Leather-grain surfaces and metal finishes are also featured. The product focuses on design details rather than just product attributes. On the Airbus A321XLR, a backlit canopy of maple leaves welcomes customers. This provides an unmistakably Canadian greeting upon boarding.
On the Boeing 787-10, premium customers are greeted by a wave-like entrance monument. This design is inspired by Canada’s waterways. It is anchored by the Air Canada rondelle cast in bronze. The airline has a firm order for 14 Boeing 787-10 aircraft.
Each Boeing 787-10 will have 332 total seats configured. There will be 42 business class seats on each plane. Twenty-eight premium economy seats will be available. The aircraft will also feature 262 economy seats.
Four of the business class seats are designated ‘Signature Plus Suites’. The business class seat is the Elevate Ascent model. This seat is used by United Airlines for its new Polaris Suite. Qatar Airways, American Airlines, and Alaska Airlines also use it.
The differences lie in Air Canada’s customization of the seat. Like American and United, there is extra space at the front of the cabin. This space is leveraged for Air Canada Signature Plus suites. These suites feature a 2 meter bed.
The Signature Plus bed is two inches longer than Delta’s new bed. Center seats offer companion guest seats. They also feature fully retractable privacy panels. This allows up to four people traveling together to share two spaces.
A solo passenger can also maintain privacy from other passengers. Mark Nasr is the airline’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He provided details on the products and fleet plans. The airline aims to carry the new design through the rest of its fleet.
Recent competitor refreshes include American Airlines’ new Boeing 787-9 business class. American also debuted a new Airbus A321XLR cabin. United Airlines introduced a new 787-9 Polaris cabin. Delta announced new business products on its Airbus A350-1000.
Delta also announced a better seat for its Airbus A330s. That seat design is nine years old. The airline business is very competitive. Air Canada’s new cabins look fantastic according to the source.[]
