dailyloe.com – A sharp temperature swing is forecast for the New York City area this week, with thunderstorms expected Wednesday ahead of a nearly 30-degree drop. The region will see highs in the 70s on Wednesday before plunging to around 49 degrees on Thursday. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to spread across the area late Wednesday afternoon.

Some isolated severe storms are possible, mainly in southern New Jersey. The heavy rain will move out overnight, making way for much cooler and damp conditions on Thursday. Fortunately, this chill is not expected to last for an extended period.

Temperatures will bounce back significantly by Friday, creating dry conditions ideal for the Yankees’ home opener. Saturday is forecast to be a sunny day with highs returning to the 70s. The weather will turn unsettled again by Easter Sunday afternoon.

Clouds will return on Sunday, with a chance of rain during the second half of the day. No severe weather is expected with this later system. The dramatic temperature story is expected to calm down significantly next week.[]
