Nurse departed following the 76ers’ 137-98 loss against the New York Knicks in the playoffs. He attended the service on Tuesday in Ankeny, Iowa, and is expected to rejoin the team for Game 2 on Wednesday night.
Knicks coach Mike Brown expressed condolences, stating, ‘Life is precious and you don’t wish that upon anybody.’ Nurse’s return is anticipated for the critical game at Madison Square Garden.
