dailyloe.com – On Mother’s Day, brunch transforms into a significant experience for many families. Reservations at popular restaurants fill weeks in advance, often leading to waitlists stretching outside and tables filled with mimosas. A new ranking of the ‘Top 100 Brunch Restaurants’ in America highlights that popular dining spots are more exclusive than ever.
The rankings, based on OpenTable diner data, reveal that California leads with 19 restaurants, followed by New York with 12, Texas with 11, and Illinois with 10. Interestingly, over half of U.S. states have no restaurants included in this top list, indicating a concentration of popular brunch venues in major dining markets.
This trend signifies a shift in how brunch is perceived. Robert Mahon, managing partner of Mahon Hospitality Group in New York City, noted, ‘Brunch has become a major factor for hospitality in general in the last 10 years.’ He explained that restaurants are increasingly catering to the demand for an experience beyond just food.
In this ‘experience economy,’ diners seek memorable outings rather than simple meals. Bo Bryant, founder of Arizona-based Brunch Kitchen & Cocktails, highlighted that brunch symbolizes a blend of food, social rituals, and affordable luxury. He stated, ‘People aren’t just going out to eat anymore. They’re going out to feel something — to mark a moment.’
The demand for brunch spikes significantly on Mother’s Day. Mahon anticipates a rise in reservations by ’30 or 40% at a minimum.’ Some establishments begin booking as early as 10 weeks before the holiday, reflecting a clear trend toward early reservations.
As more families aim to celebrate Mother’s Day at exclusive brunch venues, the challenge to secure a table intensifies. This year’s surge in reservations underscores the growing popularity and importance of brunch in American dining culture.
