Her documentary streams on Netflix starting April 22. Wilson calls the timing of its release serendipitous. This is because Miley Cyrus recently celebrated the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special. Wilson says it is crazy their projects coincided.
Wilson joined Cyrus at the special’s premiere in Los Angeles. That event occurred on March 23. She says Miley knows about her Hannah Montana journey. Wilson is also very aware of Cyrus’s own journey with the character.
Wilson notes their experiences looked very different. She did not have a Malibu mansion like the TV character. Instead, she had a little portable sound system. She performed at many birthday parties in her youth.
The country star says Cyrus absolutely loves that she impersonated Hannah. Wilson told Cyrus that the experience taught her a lesson. It showed her she would have to go get her own music career. She wanted to succeed as herself, not as Hannah Montana.
Wilson was not even old enough to drive at the time. Despite that, she was traveling to perform. She went to states like Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Her dedication began in those early years.[]
