Infielder Sung-Mun Song was recalled to fill his spot on the roster. The club also reinstated left-hander Yuki Matsui from the 15-day IL and optioned lefty Kyle Hart.
No details have been released regarding the specifics of Cronenworth’s injury or how long he will be sidelined. This season, Cronenworth has struggled, with a .144/.272/.196 batting line.

Sung-Mun Song will get his first opportunity for significant major league action. The Padres signed him this offseason to a four-year, $15 million deal.
Song previously showcased impressive statistics in South Korea, slashing .327/.397/.524 over two years with the Kiwoom Heroes. He started the season on the IL due to an oblique issue.
After recovering and completing a rehab assignment, Song was sent to the minors in mid-April. He briefly returned when the Padres faced the Diamondbacks in Mexico City, pinch-running in his major league debut.
Throughout the current season in Triple-A, Song has a .293/.364/.354 batting line. This performance is considered subpar in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, with an 82 wRC+.
However, Song has been performing well recently, entering this call-up on an eight-game hitting streak, batting .351/.400/.459 during this stretch.
He has been splitting time between shortstop, second base, and third base. While Cronenworth is out, Song is expected to take over as the everyday second baseman.
Fernando Tatis Jr. may also play a role, as the Padres have lacked a true backup middle infielder this season. Cronenworth has served as the backup to shortstop Xander Bogaerts, while Tatis has been backing up Cronenworth.
