dailyloe.com – Pep Guardiola stated that Manchester City’s season is a success whether they win the Premier League or not. He commented on the possibility of adding the FA Cup to their achievements. Guardiola believes that lifting the FA Cup against Chelsea would emphasize the quality of their campaign.

Manchester City will face Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday. The match aims to secure a second trophy this season after their victory over Arsenal in the EFL Cup final. City has become the first team to reach four consecutive FA Cup finals.

Despite their achievements, City has lost their last two FA Cup finals against Manchester United in 2024 and Crystal Palace last year. Guardiola noted that only Chelsea has previously lost three consecutive FA Cup finals from 2020 to 2022.

City can become the sixth team to win both the EFL Cup and the FA Cup in the same season. Previous teams that have achieved this include Arsenal in 1992-1993, Liverpool in 2000-2001 and 2021-2022, Chelsea in 2006-2007, and City in 2018-2019. They still have the chance for a domestic treble, but that would require a significant turnaround in the Premier League standings.

Arsenal is guaranteed the title if they win their last two matches against Burnley and Palace. Guardiola remarked on the importance of trophies, stating, “The value of a season depends on the trophies you lift. Sometimes you win trophies, and the season is a success. Sometimes you win, and the season remains really, really bad.”

Guardiola expressed that this season has been really good, even very good. City’s preparation for the cup final has been affected by their recent match against Palace, while Chelsea has had a week off before the final.

Guardiola noted, “I would prefer to have seven days, like Chelsea, but when you go to the Carabao Cup final and win trophies, you have fewer days.” He acknowledged that this situation is not ideal but emphasized that it has happened before when winning titles. He concluded that the club must perform under difficult circumstances to succeed.
