dailyloe.com – Irish fugitive Daniel Kinahan was arrested in Dubai on Wednesday, 15 April. The arrest relates to alleged serious organised crime offences. Dubai police confirmed the arrest after intensive search and surveillance operations. The arrest followed a judicial file from Irish authorities.

Kinahan is aged in his 40s and was arrested on a warrant from Irish courts. The US government imposed sanctions on him in April 2022. He was identified as a leader of the Kinahan organised crime cartel. His arrest is part of efforts to combat cross-border crime.

Dubai Public Prosecution issued an arrest warrant based on the Irish file. The warrant initiated legal procedures ahead of his potential extradition. Kinahan was captured within 48 hours of the warrant being issued. An Garda Síochána, the Irish police, said they were aware of the arrest.

An Garda Síochána stated the arrest aligns with a bi-lateral extradition agreement. The agreement is between Ireland and the United Arab Emirates. The arrest remains a matter for UAE authorities at this time. The police issued a statement on the international cooperation.

“Today’s arrest is another extremely important demonstration of the need for international law enforcement co-operation in tackling transnational organised crime,” An Garda Síochána said. Kinahan had ties to the sports world through his boxing management company. His now defunct company, MTK Global, represented over 100 boxers. Notable boxers included Tyson Fury and Carl Frampton.

Dubai police described the arrest of an Irish fugitive. They said he was arrested for his alleged role in an international organised crime network. The judicial file detailed his alleged crimes and involvement. It outlined his connection to an international criminal organisation.[]
