dailyloe.com – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed center Charlie Coyle to a six-year contract worth $36 million, announced by President of Hockey Operations Don Waddell on May 12, 2026. This contract has an annual average value of $6 million and will run through the 2031-32 season.
Waddell stated, “Charlie made a tremendous impact on and off the ice for us last season and keeping him in Columbus was a priority.” He praised Coyle as a durable and reliable player, noting his leadership and consistency.
Coyle, a 6-3, 221-pound center, posted 20 goals and 38 assists in the 2025-26 season, totaling 58 points. He also recorded 14 penalty minutes and scored seven power play goals while winning 50.7 percent of his faceoffs.
In the same season, Coyle averaged 18:06 time on ice and played all 82 games. He matched his career high for assists and power play goals and finished tied for first on the team in power play goals.
The 34-year-old Coyle was acquired by the Blue Jackets in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche on June 27, 2025. His career statistics include 209 goals and 334 assists for a total of 543 points in 1,032 NHL games.
Throughout his career, he has played for the Blue Jackets, Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins, and Minnesota Wild. Coyle has a plus/minus rating of +50 and has averaged 16:51 of ice time in his career.
Since October 16, 2021, he has skated in 411 consecutive games, marking the fourth-longest active streak in the NHL. Coyle has played every game in nine of his 13 NHL seasons.
He has scored over 40 points in a season six times and has achieved double-digit goals in 12 of his 14 seasons. His most recent high points came during his tenure with the Bruins from 2021-2024.
In the 2023-24 season, he set personal records with 25 goals and 60 points, alongside seven power play goals in 82 games. Coyle has also participated in the Stanley Cup Playoffs during his career.
