Knight reminisced about their bond, stating that the cast was his closest connection. He mentioned, ‘the only people in my world that I was close to’ were his co-stars. As they transitioned into their teenage years, Knight and Plumb, who played Jan Brady, attempted to date.
Knight noted, ‘Eve was more mature than me very early’ and acknowledged that Plumb always showed interest in him. He admitted, ‘I wasn’t ready to be claimed’ and realized too late that he reciprocated her feelings.
He stated, ‘Right as, all of a sudden, I’m now ready perhaps to turn around and recognize this attention… we’re off the air.’ This comment came shortly after Plumb shared with Page Six that their date confirmed their friendship.
Plumb described their date as ‘sweet’ and ‘fun’, but they were already too good of friends for it to become romantic. She mentioned, ‘we’ve stayed friends to this day’ and highlighted their monthly Zoom calls that began during the pandemic.
Plumb has been married to Ken Pace since 1995, while Knight married Cara Kokenes in 2016. Knight reflected on their relationship, stating that it was better for them to remain friends, saying, ‘I’m glad. Because surely, you know, exes aren’t somebody you normally stay very close to.’
Other cast members also had romantic relationships. Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady, revealed in 2024 that the cast members occasionally dated. He remarked, ‘we all hooked up with each other at some point.’
