dailyloe.com – Anthony Volpe is set to return to the New York Yankees as they face the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. The decision follows the placement of shortstop Jose Caballero on the 10-day injured list due to a finger injury.
Sources confirmed to ESPN’s Jorge Castillo that the Yankees will create a roster spot for Volpe by sidelining Caballero. Volpe was previously optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre earlier this month after recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.
Caballero has been performing well as the Yankees’ everyday shortstop but suffered a finger injury that prevented him from starting in Monday’s game against Baltimore. Following the injury, he was set to return to New York for further testing on his right middle finger.
