dailyloe.com – The New York Yankees announced that starting pitcher Max Fried will be placed on the injured list for 15 days due to a left elbow bone bruise. The decision was confirmed on Friday following an MRI and CT scan conducted on Thursday.

Fried was examined by Yankees team physician Dr. Chris Ahmad. The club indicated that Fried will undergo additional tests in a few weeks or when he is asymptomatic, to evaluate when he can start throwing again.

According to Fried, Dr. Neal Elattrache, a well-known Tommy John surgeon, will review the imaging from Thursday. Fried stated that this is primarily for due diligence and added that the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow remains intact, indicating no need for surgery.

Fried refrained from providing a specific timeline for his return. Yankees manager Aaron Boone mentioned that the team has yet to determine who will take Fried’s place in a rotation that has been performing well in the major leagues.
