dailyloe.com – The Golden State Warriors’ season ended Friday night with a loss to the Phoenix Suns in the play-in tournament. The team finished with 37 wins and was locked into 10th place in the Western Conference. This concluded a difficult season where many things went wrong.
Star player Stephen Curry missed 27 games with lingering knee pain. He returned just a week before the final regular season game on April 12. Curry’s pre-game warmup routine at Intuit Dome was observed before playing the Los Angeles Clippers.
During that warmup, Curry was seen breathing hard and pausing to wipe sweat. He later broke into a dance outside the right elbow and smiled. Curry then passed the ball to injured forward Jimmy Butler.
Butler caught the pass by the 3-point line with his right knee wrapped in a brace. He had surgery in early February to repair a torn ACL. Butler took a shot that was on target with good arc.
The shot, however, fell well short of the basket for an air ball. Curry and Butler doubled over in laughter at the moment. The season also included an injury to Moses Moody.
Curry needed a giant heating pack just to get through games. Forward Draymond Green commented on the challenging year. He stated that everything that could go wrong has gone wrong.
The miserable season still gave the team a puncher’s chance at a playoff berth. There is now a very real possibility the decade-long dynastic run might be over. The Warriors face a summer of uncertainty following their elimination.
