McCarthy was selected 10th overall by the Vikings in the 2024 NFL Draft but has faced challenges, including 12 interceptions in 10 games. His performance has been hindered by injuries; he missed his entire rookie season due to a knee injury and faced multiple injuries in his second year.
Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell emphasized the need for more depth and competition in the quarterback room. Interim general manager Rob Brzezinski mentioned the franchise would “explore every opportunity” to strengthen the position during the offseason.
