Baker made the comments in an interview with GamesRadar+ ahead of the BAFTA Games Awards 2026. He has starred in major titles like The Last of Us and Death Stranding. Baker believes his best work is still ahead of him.
He told GamesRadar+ that every acting role is an opportunity to hone his craft. Each job allows him to make his next performance even better. Baker is widely praised for portraying characters with emotional depth. Notable roles include Joel Miller in The Last of Us games and Sam Drake in Uncharted 4.
He also played Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite. Baker says every role is a learning process for him. He stated, ‘I still feel like I just got started.’ Baker explained his feeling at the end of every job. He said his last session is where he feels he has finally figured it out.
Baker said, ‘At the end of every job, no matter the size or scope of the role or the project, my last session is always the one where I go, ‘OK, now I’ve got it figured out. Can we start?” He always feels he has one better take or idea left to try. He feels more equipped after learning about the character and story.
He described this as a raw feeling shared by other actors. His goal is to take lessons from each project and apply them to the next. Baker believes he will be in better service to future projects this way. He learns as much as he can from his last role.
