dailyloe.com – Southeast Wisconsin is warming up this week with temperatures in the 70s, but the forecast also includes a chance for showers and storms every day. The region will be busy with weather activity between now and Saturday, according to WeatherWatch 12. Each day carries a storm chance, with severe weather possibilities on and off throughout the week.
Most of the seven-day forecast is well above average for temperatures. The good news for those who enjoyed yesterday is that more 70s are in the forecast. However, today, tomorrow, and Wednesday all bring a chance for strong to severe storms. The severe risk for the day ahead places most of southeastern Wisconsin in a level two out of five risk.
Central and northern counties are in the yellow, indicating a slight risk. Northwest Fond du Lac County is in an orange, level three out of five risk area. The bottom line is that most of today will be dry, warm, and breezy, especially this morning. Winds will be lighter this afternoon.
The biggest piece of forecast uncertainty right now is a cap, which keeps storms at bay. There is a chance a stray storm could get through this afternoon. Any storm that develops has the chance to be strong to severe. The risk for severe weather shown in the graphic is predominantly for overnight storm chances.
Those storms will develop off to the north and possibly drift southward. They bring the potential for mainly gusty winds. An embedded tornado is possible if all the necessary atmospheric pieces come together. There is a lot of uncertainty with how this overnight scenario plays out.
Tomorrow’s risk for severe weather is a lot more certain and widespread. A risk level three out of five is forecast for all of southeastern Wisconsin tomorrow. Storms are likely during the late afternoon and evening hours. The risk for storms tomorrow afternoon is much higher than what is expected for today.
All kinds of severe weather will be possible with Tuesday’s storms. Hail and wind are the biggest concerns, but tornadic activity is also possible tomorrow. The exact timing may adjust and change, and it may be a little bit later than currently expected.[]
