dailyloe.com – The Buffalo Sabres host the Boston Bruins for Game 2 of their playoff series on Tuesday night. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. at KeyBank Center in Buffalo. The Sabres can take a commanding 2-0 series lead before the series shifts to Boston.
Buffalo won Game 1 by overcoming a 2-0 deficit. They scored four goals in the final eight minutes of that contest. Coach Lindy Ruff said the team reviewed areas for improvement. He noted the team wants to put Boston in a desperate situation.
“We went through the game, areas we thought we were pretty good at, a couple areas we’d like to improve,” Ruff said Monday. “Talked about putting this game away and moving on to the next one, knowing that it’s a desperate situation for them.” Ruff added that no team wants to go down two games to none.
Forward Alex Tuch also commented on the upcoming game. “Boston’s going to come out and try and have a really strong push in Game 2,” Tuch said. He added that the Sabres must try to take care of business at home.
The Sabres are expected to use the same lineup from Game 1. This is based on their morning skate on Tuesday. Goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is set for a second straight start.
Colten Ellis returned to the ice for the morning skate. He had missed recent practices for maintenance reasons. The Sabres should have all three goalies available moving forward.
The Boston Bruins will not make any lineup changes for Game 2. Coach Marco Sturm confirmed this following his team’s morning skate. Sturm expressed confidence in how the Bruins played in Game 1.
“We felt pretty good about last game,” Sturm said. “We did a lot of good things. We just had to focus on a few things yesterday.” He noted the overall performance was good for a road game.
In Game 1, the Sabres held a 38-20 edge in shots on goal. Their steady attack kept the Bruins in their own zone for much of the night. Buffalo started winning puck battles late to beat goalie Jeremy Swayman.
The game will be televised locally on MSG within the Buffalo broadcast market. Pregame and postgame shows will stream on the Buffalo Sabres App. Streaming in that market is available via the Gotham Sports App and Fubo TV.
