Walker, an undrafted free agent in 2017, joined the Browns in 2023 after playing for several teams. He became the starting quarterback in Week 6 of that season due to injuries to Deshaun Watson and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
In his first start, Walker completed 18 of 34 passes for 192 yards and threw two interceptions. Despite the rough stats, he led two late drives for field goals, securing a narrow 17-16 victory.
Walker’s next game was a high-scoring affair against the Colts, where he stepped in after Watson and finished with 178 yards and one interception. He completed 15 of 32 passes in that match, contributing to a 39-38 win.
Walker displayed potential as an NFL quarterback, but he was prone to mistakes. In both victories, critical penalties negated significant turnovers that could have altered the game’s outcome.
In all three games where he played significantly, including a loss to Seattle, the Browns remained competitive until the end. This season was notable for the Browns, who cycled through multiple quarterbacks, including Joe Flacco.
After his time with the Browns, Walker spent an offseason with the Seattle Seahawks before joining the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL.
