dailyloe.com – Tickets for the Obama Presidential Center will be available to the public next week.
The center is set to open on Juneteenth, June 19. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, according to the Obama Foundation.
The center is located at 6001 S. Stony Island Ave. and will provide general-admission tickets for access to all four levels of the museum, including the replica Oval Office and the Sky Room.
Tickets are timed, and visitors should arrive within 10 minutes of their scheduled time. Illinois residents can purchase museum tickets for $26 for adults and $15 for kids aged 3-11.
Residents can obtain free tickets on Tuesdays. Non-residents will pay $30 for adult tickets and $23 for children aged 3-11.
Free tickets are also available for children aged 2 and younger, in-state educators, holders of EBT or WIC cards, active-duty military members, veterans, and Chicago first responders.
Guided tour tickets are offered at $75 per person from Monday to Wednesday and $95 from Thursday to Sunday. The tours last 90 minutes.
The opening ceremony for the Obama Center will be livestreamed on June 18. The public launch, on June 19, will feature a free weekend of performances, food, art, and activities around the center’s Jackson Park campus.
The museum will be open from 1-8 p.m. on Mondays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday. Final entries are accepted one hour before closing.
The Obama Presidential Center is a privately funded project costing $850 million. It includes the museum building, a Home Court athletics facility, a forum building, a Chicago Public Library branch, public art, and green space.
While the museum requires tickets, the rest of the campus will be free and open to the public. The location of the Obama Center in Chicago was announced in 2015.
Construction began in 2021, the same year the center was initially scheduled to open. Delays were caused by legal challenges and federal reviews.
A construction milestone was reached in June 2024 when the main museum building attained its full height.
