The weekend became a marathon event for attendees. On-track incidents occurred on Saturday during the competition. Rain and more oil affected the track surface on Sunday. Fans hung tough throughout the long day of delays.
The early-week weather forecast was not optimistic for the race. Conditions improved as the week continued towards the event. A complete washout initially looked possible for Friday and Saturday. Possible rain was then forecast for the final day of racing.
